XKR-S because it would be the best to daily drive and is nuts.
Close second would be the M3.

The answer is always Jag, ain't it?

Aren't the Jaaaag and BMW still in warranty for a while anyway? Whereas the Merc must be out of warranty by now, and isn't so much a money pit as a wealth chasm.

I'd take the Jag. The Mercedes is too heavy, the M3 is automatic, and the Jag will go through expensive parts like a 9 year old eats candy on Halloween.

Is it weird that this sticker upset me?

No, it needs to be gone, without paint damage.

It would really suck if you bought a warranty for one of these and then Car Max went out of business. They were started by Circuit City, right?

Carmax offers some pretty good warranties.

XKR-S's aren't great. They sound great, but that's it. It feels...old. I test drove one a few months ago. F-Type V8 is just...better.

But these are all relatively new...I'm sure the factory warranty would cover them for a while...Also, is the M3 DCT or stick? I think all Lime Rocks were DCT right?

That's the matte paint too, eh? Hard to take care of.

Probably so but that wasn't an option.

I'll take the XK-RS, because that car is a motherfuckin beast. Also the SL isn't a 65 and it probably doesn't come with the fancy watch that the car originally shipped with, some technician at a Carmax is rocking a pretty sweet watch or the previous owner sold the car without the watch. Also they fucking put Carmax stickers on that matte paint which they will be lucky if it won't require a respray because of them.
I think the Lime Rock M3 would end up being too reliable in the long run. Even though that orange looks reallu nice in person.

Ohh didn't notice the Benz was a '09. It's not my favorite, but to take advantage of the Carmax warranty, definitely the Benz. Hell hath no fury like an AMG out of warranty.

DCT, which are crazy expensive to service and the warranties are only good for like 4/5 years or 40,000 miles, on the bmw and jag.

Dct isn't that bad. Fluid is about $500 to change. Upgraded clutches are $3,000 installed if you do manage to wear them out. I bet the failure rate is less then manuals do to less user error, it's actually a pretty reliable transmission.

I shall go with the Jag, or the Bmw. No Mercedes for this guy.

Does Carmax cover the warranty if you S/C with ESS? For like 600hp?
And gtfo with that wing. CSL ducklid or stock trunk. Lime Rocks didn't have those wings stock.

Those stickers can be removed by anyone that hasn't whittled their fingernails down to the nubs. I used to have to do it quite frequently.

They divested from Circuit city in the early-mid 2000's and were a completely separate company from then on.

Those Carmax decals are a lot less adhesive than some of the crazy plaques I've seen other dealers put on cars. Occasionally we had to apply them in inventory. Just imagine it like a smartphone screen protector. You remove one side of the protective adhesive, line it up on the car and then pull the sheet off that the decals were actually stuck to. We rarely ever pressed them on too hard because people should have a choice and sometimes we were the ones that were asked to remove them so it was a bit self-serving.

Well, yeah, otherwise we wouldn't be talking about them, because they'd probably be out of business already.

Yeah, the Carmax leadership team saw what was happening to Circuit City back in the day and moved pretty quickly to get out from underneath that falling ball of fire. I think I still have a commemorative mug that says "We're on our own. October XX, 2002" and has the actual official date on it. Really good timeline of events on their site: http://www.carmax.com/enUS/company-i…
I loved working there to be honest and had I not had an incredible opportunity land in my lap I'd likely still be there. Apparently in January Carmax was again named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" by FORTUNE ® magazine, for the 10th consecutive year in a row. Pretty impressive for a car dealership if you ask me.

I was shopping around for a used BMW 3 series, and I saw a few within my price and mileage range on car max. They were really easy to deal with, but I was able to get the car I wanted for a lower price with a CPO warranty from a BMW dealership. They seemed pretty hassle free, but so is a dealership if you're willing to pay a higher price. Dealerships treat sales people like shit, so at least Car Max seems to care about their employees. They seemed perfect for someone who doesn't want to deal with the drama of a dealership. I'm a hardass, so I have no problem telling a sales manager at a dealership to fuck off.

Very good points made! I do think some credit has to be given to Carmax for making things hassle free and changing the way the used car market operates in most cases. Before them, hassle free was pretty much unheard of. Wheeling and dealing and haggling endlessly over the price was the name of the game.
